"The eye is the lamp of the body.
If your eyes are good,
your whole body will be full of light.
If your eyes are bad,
your whole body will be full of darkness."
~Matthew 6:22-23~
So much pain and sin can be brought about just by seeing. Today I pray the things my husband sees will be glorifying to God, and that he will not defile his body, the temple of the Lord, by indulging in feasting his eyes of evil.
Pray with me for your husband...
Prayer #12.His Eyes
Father, we know our eyes are the lamp of our bodies. With them we either introduce light or dark, good or evil into our hearts. (Matt.6:22-23) Give my husband the courage to guard his eyes from evil. Far remove from him any addictions to vile images or lusts. Convict him and move him to get rid of any idols he may be holding on to, not defiling himself. May he not be as some who did not obey Your command to remove images and idols. To those You said You would pour our Your wrath and spend Your anger on them. (Ez.20:7-8) Do not pour our Your anger on my husband.
Lord, we know Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; You cannot tolerate wrong. (Hab.1:13) However, I pray You will be patient with my husband in the work of guarding his eyes, yet never letting him become comfortable and complacent in this refining work. Let Him be ever growing, ever learning to see as Your eyes do: purely and rightly.
Jesus, You said, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." (Matt.5:8) I pray also that the eyes of his heart may be enlightened in order that he may know the hope to which You have called him. May he see the riches of Your glorious inheritance and Your incomparably great power, and may it move him to further seek to guard and purify his eyes, the lamp of his body. (Eph.1:18-19) I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen
"He who...
shuts his eyes against contemplating evil-
this is the man who will dwell on the heigths,
whose refuge will be the mountain fortress.
~Isaiah 33: 15-16~
